About these manners worksheets

Good manners help preschoolers make friends and get along with grown-ups. These pages show the everyday manners young children practice: saying hello, please and thank you, sharing, taking turns and listening.

Children talk through a good manners chart and a good listening chart, sort kind and not kind actions, trace the magic words please, thank you and sorry, and color friendly ways to say hello.

How to use them

  1. Use the charts at circle time. Act out each manner before you color it.
  2. On the kind or not kind pages, ask how each child in the picture feels. That is the heart of kindness.
  3. Say the magic words together as your child traces them, then use them all day.
  4. Practice good listening before story time with the listening chart: eyes look, ears listen, hands and feet still.
  5. Praise manners when you see them: Thank you for sharing the blocks.

Teaching tips

  • Model the manners you want. Children copy what they hear and see.
  • Sorry is easier when a child can also do something kind, like helping a friend up.
  • Sharing is hard at three. Taking turns with a timer is a good first step.
  • Keep the words short and the same every time: please, thank you, my turn, your turn.
