Print at 100% (actual size) for the cleanest tracing lines.
Nursery rhymes are some of the first poems children learn by heart. Saying them again and again helps kindergartners hear rhyming words, notice the beats in words and follow print from left to right. These printables use twelve classic rhymes, including Humpty Dumpty, Jack and Jill, Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star and Hickory Dickory Dock, in their traditional words.
Each rhyme has two sheets. The poster shows the rhyme in big print with pictures and the rhyming words in bold, plus a find-it task: circle every copy of one word and count them. The activity page has four short tasks: circle the picture that rhymes, number three events in order, circle the word that finishes a line, and answer a who or what question by circling a picture.
There is also a nursery rhyme book to staple together, a rhyme match, a page of questions about six rhymes and a my favorite rhyme page. The kindergarten poems section has six short new poems about the seasons, colors and counting. Each one has a rhyme task and a big box to draw the poem, and a poem or story sort helps children tell the two kinds of text apart. Every page with one right answer has an answer key on page 2.

Each has a poster and an activity page.
They are short, fun to say and full of rhyming words. Saying them helps children hear the sounds in words, which is a big step toward reading. Following the words on a poster also teaches that print goes left to right and top to bottom.
Most kindergartners need an adult to read the rhyme and the directions. The answers are pictures to circle and numbers to write, so children can show what they know without reading every word.
Yes. The six poems are new, short poems written for kindergarten about fall, winter, spring, summer, colors and counting. They are meant to be read aloud by an adult, then illustrated by the child.
Yes. The posters, activity pages, poems, match, questions and poem or story sort all have an answer key on page 2. The rhyme book and the my favorite rhyme page are open-ended, so they have no key.
Say two words and ask if they sound the same at the end, like cat and hat. Then give a word and let your child think of one that rhymes. Nonsense words count too. Nursery rhymes give lots of practice, so say them often.
