An array is a group of objects in equal rows, like eggs in a carton or chairs in a classroom. In 2nd grade, children use arrays to add the same number again and again: 3 rows of 4 is 4 + 4 + 4 = 12. This repeated addition is the bridge to multiplication in 3rd grade.
These worksheets keep to arrays of up to 5 rows and 5 columns. Children count rows and columns, write the total as a sum of equal addends, add the same array by rows and by columns, draw arrays from words, work with equal groups, and solve short array word problems.
Most pages come as Sheet A and B. Every page has an answer key on page 2, and all pages print in black and white on US Letter or A4.

An array shows equal groups. In 2nd grade children add them (4 + 4 + 4 = 12). In 3rd grade the same array is written as 3 × 4 = 12.
Up to 5 rows and 5 columns, the size 2nd grade standards use.
Yes. Every page has an answer key on page 2. The Draw an Array key shows the finished array.
