These Christmas worksheets for 3rd graders keep December practice on real third grade skills. Children color a mystery tree and a wrapped gift by solving multiplication and division facts, crack a secret holiday message, solve two-step Christmas word problems, find the area and perimeter of gift wrap, work out elapsed time on a cookie-baking schedule and draw a scaled bar graph of favorite cookies.
For reading, there is an original story about two kids who secretly shovel a neighbor's sidewalk and a nonfiction text about how reindeer are built for the cold. Writing and grammar pages ask for an opinion about the best gift that isn't a thing and practice comparative and superlative adjectives.
Every page with one right answer has an answer key on page 2. For more holiday math across the grades, see the Christmas math worksheets page, and for a look at how families celebrate in other countries, try the Christmas around the world worksheets.
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.3.OA.C.7Fluently multiply and divide within 100, using strategies such as the relationship between multiplication and division (e.g., knowing that 8 × 5 = 40, one knows 40 ÷ 5 = 8) or properties of operations. By the end of Grade 3, know from memory all products of two one-digit numbers.CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.3.OA.D.8Solve two-step word problems using the four operations. Represent these problems using equations with a letter standing for the unknown quantity. Assess the reasonableness of answers using mental computation and estimation strategies including rounding.CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.3.MD.A.1Tell and write time to the nearest minute and measure time intervals in minutes. Solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of time intervals in minutes, e.g., by representing the problem on a number line diagram.CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.3.MD.B.3Draw a scaled picture graph and a scaled bar graph to represent a data set with several categories. Solve one- and two-step "how many more" and "how many less" problems using information presented in scaled bar graphs. For example, draw a bar graph in which each square in the bar graph might represent 5 pets.CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.3.MD.C.7.DRecognize area as additive. Find areas of rectilinear figures by decomposing them into non-overlapping rectangles and adding the areas of the non-overlapping parts, applying this technique to solve real world problems.CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.3.MD.D.8Solve real world and mathematical problems involving perimeters of polygons, including finding the perimeter given the side lengths, finding an unknown side length, and exhibiting rectangles with the same perimeter and different areas or with the same area and different perimeters.CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.3.2Recount stories, including fables, folktales, and myths from diverse cultures; determine the central message, lesson, or moral and explain how it is conveyed through key details in the text.CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RI.3.2Determine the main idea of a text; recount the key details and explain how they support the main idea.CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.3.1Write opinion pieces on topics or texts, supporting a point of view with reasons.CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.L.3.1.GForm and use comparative and superlative adjectives and adverbs, and choose between them depending on what is to be modified.Multiplication and division facts within 100 (color by number and a secret message), two-step word problems with all four operations, area and perimeter, elapsed time to the minute and a scaled bar graph.
Yes. The story and the reindeer text were written for these pages, at a 3rd grade level, with questions that send children back to the text.
Yes. Every page with one right answer has a key on page 2, with the work shown for the word problems and sample answers for written questions.
