Sight words for 4th graders are common words that turn up on almost every page of a chapter book or a science text: words like among, consider, however, language, measure and suppose. By 4th grade, children should read them without stopping and spell them correctly in their own writing.
This list has 50 4th grade high frequency words in five sets of ten, and none of them repeats our pre-K to 3rd grade sight word lists or any of our spelling lists. Set 1 starts with among, area, become, actually and center; set 5 ends with yourself, sometimes, someone and itself.
Each set has two sentence pages (choose the word that fits, then write your own sentence), a fluency page of short phrases to read three times, and a short story that uses all ten words, with a multiple-choice question and a written one. The list, flash cards and tracker cover all 50 words. Every page prints in black and white on US Letter or A4.
