A community is a place where people live, work and play. In 1st grade, children learn three kinds of communities. An urban community is a city with tall buildings and lots of people. A suburban community is near a city, with streets of houses and yards. A rural community has farms, open land and homes far apart.
These communities worksheets start with a poster of all three. Children sort sentences about each kind of community, cut and paste them, solve riddles and read about three friends who live in a city, a suburb and on a farm.
Other pages connect communities to the places everyone uses, like the library, the fire station and the grocery store, and end with a page about the community each child lives in. Pages print on US Letter or A4, and pages with right answers have an answer key on page 2.
