About social studies worksheets for 1st graders

First grade social studies widens a child’s world from the classroom to the town, the country and the whole Earth. Children read maps with a key, a compass rose and a grid, find the continents and oceans, learn what makes a good citizen, and explain why we have rules and laws.

These social studies worksheets for 1st graders follow four strands. Maps and geography pages use one town map from start to finish, then move out to the United States and the world. Citizenship pages cover good citizens, rules and laws, and the leaders who make them. Community pages compare urban, suburban and rural places and introduce producers, consumers and choices with money. History pages build timelines and compare life long ago with life today.

Every page is black and white with short directions a 1st grader can read, prints on US Letter or A4, and pages with right answers have an answer key on page 2.
