About science worksheets for 5th graders
Fifth grade science asks big questions. Where does a tree's wood come from? Why does a dropped ball fall “down” in Australia too? Is anything lost when ice melts or wood burns? Why does the sun look brighter than every other star?
These science worksheets for 5th graders follow four strands. Matter pages cover properties, the particle model, mixtures and solutions, physical and chemical changes and conservation of mass. Life science pages cover photosynthesis, energy in food, ecosystems and food webs. Earth science pages cover Earth's four spheres, water on Earth, and pollution and conservation. Space pages cover gravity, the solar system, moon phases, shadows and day length, and stars and constellations.
Labeled diagrams come with blank and cut and paste versions, and data pages use realistic numbers, labeled as practice data when made up. Every page is black and white, prints on US Letter or A4, and pages with right answers have an answer key on page 2.
Questions
What science do 5th graders learn?
Most 5th grade science covers matter (properties, mixtures, physical and chemical changes and conservation of mass), how plants get their matter from air and water, ecosystems and food webs, Earth's spheres and water, protecting Earth's resources, gravity, the sun and stars, and patterns of shadows, day length and seasonal stars.
Are there solar system and moon phases diagrams?
Yes. Each has a labeled diagram, a blank diagram with a word bank and a cut and paste version, all with answer keys.
Do the investigations need special materials?
Most pages need only a pencil. Investigations use simple things like cups of water, salt and sugar, a flashlight, a stick for a shadow, a zip bag with baking soda and vinegar, and a clear jar.
Are there answer keys?
Yes. Every page with right answers has an answer key on page 2. Posters, labeled diagrams, journals and design pages have no key.
