About math worksheets for 5th graders
Fifth grade is the top of elementary math. Children extend place value to thousandths and use powers of 10, then add, subtract, multiply and divide decimals. They multiply multi-digit whole numbers with the standard method, divide up to 4-digit numbers by 2-digit numbers, and write and evaluate expressions with parentheses, brackets and braces.
Fractions grow up too: adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators, multiplying fractions, and dividing with unit fractions. In measurement and geometry, children find the volume of rectangular prisms, plot points on the coordinate plane, convert units and sort quadrilaterals into a hierarchy.
Practice pages are made fresh from each skill, so most come as Sheet A, B and C with new problems at the same level. How-to pages start the big skills with a worked example, the answer keys show the steps of long division and decimal work, and 16 weeks of morning work review it all. Every page prints in black and white on US Letter or A4.
Questions
What math should a 5th grader know?
By the end of 5th grade, children work with decimals to thousandths and all four operations with them, add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators, multiply fractions, multiply multi-digit numbers, divide by 2-digit numbers, find volume and plot points on a coordinate plane.
Do 5th graders do long division?
Yes. They divide up to 4-digit numbers by 2-digit numbers and divide decimals. Our long division pages start with a worked example that rounds the divisor to estimate each digit.
What decimals do 5th graders learn?
Decimals to thousandths: place value, comparing and rounding, and adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing decimals to hundredths.
Is there daily math review for 5th grade?
Yes. Morning Work for 5th Graders has 80 pages, one for each school day of 16 weeks, each with an answer key.
Are the worksheets free?
Yes. Every page is a free PDF with no sign-up, in US Letter and A4.
