About math worksheets for 4th graders
Fourth grade is the year of big numbers and fractions. Children read, write, compare and round numbers to 1,000,000, add and subtract them with the written method, multiply up to 4 digits by 1 digit and 2 digits by 2 digits, and divide up to 4-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers with remainders. They find factor pairs, tell prime from composite, follow number patterns, and solve multi-step word problems with an equation and an estimate.
Fractions become a major strand: equivalent fractions, comparing fractions with different denominators, adding and subtracting fractions with like denominators, mixed numbers, multiplying a fraction by a whole number, and decimals to hundredths. In geometry, children measure angles with a protractor, classify triangles and other shapes by their lines and angles, and find lines of symmetry. They also convert measurements and use formulas for area and perimeter.
Practice pages are made fresh from each skill, so most come as Sheet A, B and C with new problems at the same level. The long division and multiplication pages show every step on the answer key, and a morning work set gives one short review page for every school day of 16 weeks. All pages print in black and white on US Letter or A4.
Questions
What math should a 4th grader know?
By the end of 4th grade, children add and subtract multi-digit numbers fluently, multiply up to 4 digits by 1 digit and 2 digits by 2 digits, divide up to 4-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers, find factor pairs, work with equivalent fractions and decimals to hundredths, and measure angles.
When do children learn long division?
In 4th grade, with 1-digit divisors and dividends up to 9,999. Our long division page starts with a step-by-step guide and guided pages with arrows for each step.
What multiplication is in 4th grade?
Multiplying up to a 4-digit number by a 1-digit number and multiplying two 2-digit numbers, using area models, partial products and the written method.
Is there daily math review for 4th grade?
Yes. The morning work set has 80 short pages, one for every school day of 16 weeks, each with an answer key.
Are there answer keys?
Yes. Every page with right answers has an answer key on page 2 of the PDF.
